Patrick Prothe
As a communicator and social strategist, I strive to provide thoughts and ideas on how marketing professionals can communicate better with their customers, prospects and constituents. In all of my work, I never forget that business is about humans connecting with humans – and that it’s all about building meaningful relationships.
I’m currently the Marketing Communications Manager for Viewpoint Construction Software, a division of Coaxis, Inc. in Portland, Oregon. Viewpoint develops and supports contemporary software that helps construction professionals manage all areas of operations – from Accounting and Human Resources, to Project Management and Operations. I work closely with the marketing team to create and deliver integrated campaigns that create stronger bonds with our customers, prospects and construction community.
Prior to this I was the Creative Services Manager for Knowledge Learning Corporation, directing a team of four to eight designers producing educational and marketing materials supporting early childhood education. I also operated my own brand consulting agency producing brand strategies, identities and promotions for small to medium-sized businesses.
I earned additional stripes designing for the offroad market at Warn Industries, extensive promotions for a Nevada casino and channel marketing initiatives at Xerox.
I took a circuitous route to B2B marketing via photography and design. After several years of planning to become a Doctor, I had the fortune to watch a surgery, and determined on the spot that medicine was not my future. Not knowing what I wanted to do, I began college as an accounting major, but quickly realized I was more drawn to the journalism program. Writing, design and photography have been a part of my life ever since.
A Native Oregonian, I think both linearly and in circles, creating connections where none previously existed. Always curious and constantly learning while asking a lot of what if we tried…. questions, I draw on the latest thinking in neuroscience and study the ways our brains respond, choose and buy.
